By Brother Paul Bruk – Saggahew Lodge A.F. & A.M.
The weather was just perfect, as we made a DAY TRIP to Visit Union Lodge-Nantucket for their January Communication and First-Degree work; About 45 Masons, dressed in tuxes or suit & tie traveled on the ferry together and walked up the cobblestone Main Street to the lodge. The two Union Lodges (Dorchester/Norwood, MA and Nantucket) continued the 2nd year of their annual tradition of holding a joint communication. The visiting lodge officers (in this case, Union Lodge-Dorchester/Norwood), performed the First-Degree on candidates from both lodges. In addition, R.W. Buchenan, District Deputy Grand Master from the 20th District, made a Fraternal Visit. We traveled from Saggahew to Hyannis and took the Hy-Line fast ferry across to the Island. When the degree work was completed, we had lunch at Union Lodge-Nantucket; then had a few hours to walk around town and along the boat basin before boarding the ferry for the return trip home. It was another unique and very enjoyable day in Freemasonry!
