Investing in Our Future: Haverhill Freemasons Award $70,000 in Scholarships

One of the greatest privileges of Freemasonry is the opportunity to invest in the future of our communities. On June 23, 2026, the Masonic Bodies of Haverhill proudly awarded nearly $70,000 in scholarships to outstanding local students pursuing their educational dreams at trade schools, colleges, universities, and graduate programs.

Family members, friends, and Masonic leaders gathered at Maria’s Restaurant for our annual Scholarship Night to celebrate not only academic achievement, but also the character, determination, and promise these young men and women represent. A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the third annual James B. Giannatsis Scholarship, awarded to the student who submitted the best essay on the theme, “What It Means to Be an American.”

Education has long been one of Freemasonry’s most cherished commitments. By supporting these students today, we hope to encourage the leaders, professionals, and engaged citizens who will shape our communities tomorrow. Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients—we are honored to be a small part of your journey and look forward to all that you will accomplish.

Freemasonry, the world’s oldest and largest fraternity, seeks to bring together men of every country, religion, race, background, and opinion in order to develop the bonds of friendship between them. Through a large variety of North American Masonic philanthropies, approximately $3,000,000 is given to charity every day, 70% of which benefits the general public. During its symbolic initiation ceremony, members are encouraged to value principles, ethics, and morals and to live their lives accordingly. By “making good men better,” Freemasonry positively benefits its members, their families, and their communities.

Freemasonry in Massachusetts is comprised of 21,000 members in more than 200 different lodges throughout the Commonwealth. For additional information, visit HaverhillMasonry.org or MassFreemasonry.org.
